Building a Better Community through Tennis and Education

Tennis Memphis is a USTA Community Tennis Association organization, and a nonprofit 501(c)(3) governed by a Board of Directors.  Our mission is to build a better community and enhance lives through tennis and education. We intend to increase the exposure of the sport of tennis in all areas of our community and are committed to working with other organizations committed to the growth of tennis in Memphis to accomplish this goal.

The scope of what Tennis Memphis does extends well beyond managing the city’s tennis centers. As a member of the National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) network of nearly 600 nonprofit organizations, Tennis Memphis is deeply committed to making tennis available to all children in Memphis with year-round programming throughout the community.

Our NJTL youth programs play an integral role in the character development of children who would not otherwise have access to tennis. National Junior Tennis and Learning was founded in 1969 by tennis legend Arthur Ashe and two of his compatriots as a way to make tennis available to traditionally under-served youth, regardless of gender, race, or socioeconomic status.

Our flagship event is the annual NJTL Tennis Summer Camp. The camps are intensive, fun six week daily tennis camps operated at our public tennis centers across the city.
